I have a Jet 14 inch band saw and I constantly had trouble with severe blade drift, no matter what I did to try and correct it. It would have saved me a lot of frustration and wasted wood. The directions were clear and concise. I finally took the plunge and bought the Roller Bearing Blade Guide and I couldn't be happier. You better believe it. My saw cuts straight and true every time with very little, if any, blade drift. I put cool blocks on to help steady the blade but these wore so quickly that they were essentially worthless. It was also very easy to install.
It is so easy now to resaw a piece of wood. I wish I would have gotten this earlier. Would I recommend this guide to anyone. This is well worth the money spent.
Much better than friction block guides, but the blade will still wander if you are not careful. Easy to install.
I recently purchased my first bandsaw (used). It had the plastic blade guides that had to be constantly adjusted.I had begun shopping for a replacement, when I got the E-mail notice about the Jet guides on sale from Amazon.Since I also had a twenty dollarar coupon, this was perfect for me. The guides work great, were easy to install. They made my saw 100% better. John Oelze
I got these on Amazon and used a program/promotional code, so they were even cheaper than they are listed, roughly half of what Carter charges for their ball bearing guides. This is a very nice setup and works very well. Easy to install and adjustments are simple but do require an allen wrench. If you are considering the Carter system, save the money, buy these and upgrade your spring and get a quick release with the difference. You won't regret buying these.
Seems solidly built and easy to assemble, but after installing, I attempted to install the stock blade guide and it didn't fit when using a 3/4" blade (mount screws were position such that the blade guard would scrape against the blade teeth).I ended up disassembling the original guide and reusing the main "body", which was wider and as such allowed the guide to clear the blade. My Jet is a 14" closed base manufactured in 2002, perhaps they changed the blade guard design since then to make the bracket wider. I'll be calling Jet tomorrow for an answer.Would have given 4 stars if I hadn't had the guard clearance problem; the blade guide seemed a little "mickey mouse" to me, need to adjust the blade to roller clearance by trial and error (each time the roller lock-screw is tightened, the rollers shifted a little, so it's a bit of a guessing game to adjust the clearances).
